Klondike is played with a regular deck of 52 cards, excluding any Jokers.
Once the shuffling is done, a layout is created using seven columns of fanned-out cards from left to right. Each column holds one more card than the previous one, starting with a single upturned card in the first pile, two cards in the second pile, three in the third, and so on, up to seven cards in the last pile. All top cards of these columns are turned face-up.
The remaining cards are placed face down at the top-left corner of this setup, forming the stock.
If the player cannot make any further meaningful moves, the game is considered lost and winning becomes impossible.
Spielanleitung
The goal of the game is to place all the cards into four rows in ascending order, beginning with the Ace, ensuring that cards of the same suit are grouped together in the same row.
