Classic chess is a two-player game that is played on a board with 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid. Each player has 16 pieces, including a king, a queen, two knights, two rooks, two bishops and eight pawns. Classic chess comprises sixteen pieces, which can be categorized into six different types. 1. The king moves from its square to an adjacent empty square that is not under attack from the opponent's pieces. 2. The queen can move in a straight line to any number of empty squares in any direction, combining the moves of the rook and bishop. 3. The rook moves any number of squares horizontally or vertically as long as there are no pieces in its path. 4. The bishop moves any number of diagonally placed squares as long as the way is clear. 5. The knight makes a unique 'L'-shaped move: two squares vertically and then one square horizontally, or two squares horizontally and one square vertically. 6. Pawns move only one space forward, except for capturing another piece.
