Roots is a serene puzzle game about the growth of life. Starting from a seed, you extend a root one step at a time across a hexagonal grid, ensuring it doesn't cross itself or encounter stones. Your objective is to gather all the crystals on the level while avoiding dead ends.
Each move consumes energy. Drops of water replenish it, sand demands twice as much, and in the frosty realm, crystals must be collected in a specific sequence. The game offers 60 levels spread across four worlds — meadow, stones, sands, and frost — with progressively increasing difficulty.
You can earn up to three sprouts per level by completing it, matching the optimal number of moves, and collecting all the water. Your progress is saved automatically, allowing you to pick up where you left off on any device.

To extend the root, tap an adjacent cell or swipe in the desired direction. On a computer, use the arrow keys to move and press Enter to confirm your action. Keep in mind that the root can't intersect itself or pass through stones.
Collect all the crystals to finish the level. Be careful with your energy: each step consumes it, water droplets replenish it, and sand costs twice as much. In the frost world, crystals have numbers — you must collect them in the right order.
If you find yourself in a dead end, you can undo a move or restart the level. If you're still having trouble, the game will offer a suggestion for the next step.
